This was the HeuART Fest 2023 in Russbach

This was the HeuART Festival 2023

Unique, artistic, and creative! This is how the HeuART Festival 2023 was! Thousands of guests visited the 21st HeuART Festival in the Salzburg village of Russbach | Dachstein West on September 27. 26 parade participants with a total of 17 beautiful, magnificent hay figures were pulled through the village by lovingly decorated horse-drawn carriages and vintage tractors.

Numerous local associations and volunteers have made the HeuART festival in Russbach a colorful celebration of customs this year. The various music groups played everywhere at the club stands and the children enjoyed themselves at the children's program. In addition, the Russbach Water Park offers fun and games for the kids all year round! So there is a small stream for water damming and a great play area, with water pumps and damming facilities. The highlight for children is certainly the children's canoe trail, which is also freely accessible in summer.

Over 40 exhibitors

Many of the exhibitors of the arts and crafts market showed their skills at the booth at the show craft. From monastery work to show carving, spinning products, pasture products, ceramic painting and work, pine and old wood art to traditional costumes and much more was shown by about 40 exhibitors.

Culinary connoisseurs found a wide range of local cheeses and sausages, fine brandies, wines, jams and much more offered at the farmers' market.

These were the winners!

An expert jury, from all the participating locations evaluated the hay figures and awarded 5 overall winners according to the aspects of "creativity", "dimension", "work effort", "proportions" and "overall impression". The winner of the day was the figure of the parish "The church is upside down". 2nd place went to the "Lammertaler Berghirsch" from the Annaberg-Lungötz Tourism Association. In 3rd place was the figure of "Pippi Longstocking" wearing the "Little Uncle", tied by the traditional costume women Russbach. The 4th place went to received the "hunter's stand" of the Gamsfeldschnalzer and the 5th cup went to the Tourist Association Russbach with their hay swan.

Colorful supporting program

Already on Saturday "Die Alpenpiraten" heated up in the marquee of the volunteer fire department Russbach strongly, but before that there was already at the Russbacher Horn and in the Edtalm a musical program in the huts in the course of the HeuART-Musiroas!

With the dirndl in the lake

Was the motto on Saturday in the Seestüberl to the water park. Here the fun was great when ... participants with the funniest figures in dirndl garb jumped into the natural pool of Russbach.

HeuART means cohesion of a whole region!

The HeuART festival takes place alternately in the villages of Russbach, Annaberg, Abtenau and St. Martin, so all the villages work together to create this joyful and artistic festival. Thus, the associations and localities begin tying the hay figures months before the festival. But the cohesion can also be felt everywhere in the cooperation between the 4 tourism associations, including the Tennengau Regional Association! 2024 the next HeuART festival will take place on September 1 in Abtenau.

Honor to whom honor is due

The big surprise was the secretly finished hay wagon with "Anita Höll as a hay figure" as a thank you for her years of service! She was the chairwoman of the HeuART Association for over 20 years and with tireless dedication, a lot of heart and an unbelievable pool of energy she accompanied and managed the HeuART Festival for many years and gathered and guided all the participating people. Therefore, a big thank you to Anita for the always positive and motivating nature and uncomplicated helping hand.

The HeuART Fest 2024 will take place on September 1, 2024 in Abtenau.
